First visit to Portugal and an apartment so wasn’t sure what to except. Needn’t have worried. Apartment is spacious (five of us went – 3 adults and 2 children) clean and well equipped with everything you need to make a holiday enjoyable (wifi great for keeping the children entertained), shower excellent and in a location, which makes it really easy to discover Portugal. Didn’t cook once, especially with Snopao across the road with its excellent food and great value for money, we had breakfast there every morning! O Escuteiro (across road) was a bit more expensive but excellent food and Sarah was really helpful. Christina’s down the road also serves lovely Portuguese food too and restaurants in the fisherman’s quarters in Espinho were also great value for money. Walk into Espinho along the boardwalk is lovely (takes about 30-40 minutes) but equally easy to catch the train as the ticket machine has a button which translates into English. It’s well worth walking to Aguda and Mirimar too where the beaches were lovely. The pool in Granja (salt water pool) is worth a visit, although you need to get there early, we queued for an hour in the afternoon and gave up, as because everyone is allocated a sunbed, someone needs to leave before you can get in! Porto is also easy to reach by train and well worth taking a boat tour, cable car ride and venicular train. Excellent holiday.
